Sengketa tersebut juga merubah hal fundamental dalam istilah Dota 2 yaitu mengganti dua faksi yang berang. Pada Dota 1, kedua faksi tersebut adalah Sentinel dan Scourge. Pada Dota 2 dirubah menjadi Radiant dan Dire.
